Privileged Location in Cartagena’s Historic Center

Also know as “Puerta del Reloj”, it’s an iconic landmark and the main gateway to the Walled City. Built in the late 17th century, it’s an architectural icon that reflects the city’s resilience against invasions and attacks. Considered one of the world’s most beautiful public clocks, it is a must-see for visitors thanks to its rich history and its central location between Plaza de los Coches and Plaza de la Paz. It’s spectacular at night when it is lit up. 

Just outside the historic quarter lies the Getsemaní neighborhood, a vibrant area that over the years has made a name for itself as a hub for urban art, music, gastronomy, and vibrant culture. The most frequented entrance is via Calle de las Banderas, where the first urban art murals can start being seen on the walls. A stone’s throw away is “Calle de los cuadros” (Street of Paintings) lined with art galleries, leading to the heart of Getsemaní: Plaza de la Trinidad, a vibrant square bustling with street stalls, music, and dance, is watched over by the Church of the Holy Trinity. Here, every moment can be savored, especially at sunset, when the sky glows with shades of red, creating a breathtaking unforgettable view.

This magnificent castle is located on the Hill of San Lázaro. It’s a 17th-century military fortress from the Spanish colonial era, built to protect the city from pirates and invaders. It is known as “The Unconquerable” because, although it was attacked several times by the enemies of the Spanish crown, it was never taken. Its stunning size and network of interconnected tunnels make it a must-see attraction. In 1984, UNESCO added the “Port, Fortresses, and Monumental Complex of Cartagena de Indias” to its list of World Heritage Sites.
